Ernie, my golf mentor

In memory of Ernie

This year Totof and I got a golf fever. The fever started in April. Chun-Chun, John, and us went to Pin High. John demonstrated how to swing club and how to address body. Of course the first time was not too fun. Because we were unable to hit any ball high. But, started from the second practice, we got something nice. Then, we got this fever.
We no longer played in Pin High. Now, we go to Palo Alto since I like Palo Alto's condition better. The wind, the mat, and the environment in Palo Alto are nicer than those in Pin High. But most important thing is that I can hit the balls more often in Palo Alto. My skills were not as good as Totof's. His progress was incredible. I wanted to be as good as him.

My wish was granted.

It was a Friday evening. Totof and I went to Palo Alto to practice. The driving ranch was packed. We barely found two good spots. I swung, swung, and swung. My balls sometimes went pretty left while other times went right. Suddenly, the guy occupying one mat behind me stopped by. He said my position was wrong.

He told me the swing part should be easy. Just three steps.

1. Turn your shoulder until you see the left shoulder is under your nose.
2. Put your right arm close to your body.
3. Pull your right hand like you pull a rope
His advice worked. It worked well. I never been so happy in a golf ranch. I swung, then saw the ball soared.

I was so grateful. Sometimes I wonder why Ernie stopped by my mat. I guess it was because my ball once almost hit him.
