Math

This was solved before

Packing is more than handling physical objects. During packing you can unveil old memories too. A box in the garage was neglected at the beginning. I was reminded to open it. I looked into this box. Surprisingly saw some memories. A proof that lead me to a far away kingdom. One of it is a math problem. As follows.

Three safari hunters are captured by a sadistic tribe of natives and forced to participate in a duel to the death. Each is given a pistol and tied to a post the same distance from the other two. They must take turns shooting at each other, one shot per turn. The worst shot of the three hunters (1 in 3 accuracy) must fire first. The second turn goes to the hunter with 50-50 (1 in 2) accuracy. If he's still alive the third turn goes to the crack shot (1 in 1 accuracy). The rotation continues until only one hunter remains, who is then rewarded with freedom. Which hunter has the best chance of surviving, and why?

I saw my note saying, Be the best otherwise your life would be shorter than others. I was brilliant.

Second knock

Close your eyes and let the carpet drive you

Consciousness brings fears. Our brains are gates of comfort zones. At least mine is like that. I have fears. Shameless to admit that. Also, I handle my fears poorly. I, autism child. But fortunately I recently have received ways to manage fears.

Amazingly I heard this from a man. He said the best story he has ever had was when he drew a cartoon for a little girl who was about to die for cancer. The little girl passed away but her stories were published as a book. She picked the cartoon from this man and put a note "I see your cartoon as a magic carpet drive. I wish all children can take this drive. No fear about destination. Just ride. The carpet knows your heart. Close your eyes."

I sensed a hope after hearing this story. Hey fears. I have choices? Close my eyes and set my foot on the carpet.

First knock

Are you in the world or off the world?

My roommate asked me this. I was unsure what this meant. But this question has stayed in my head. There are three reasons for this question to be added as "first knock". First is about recent catastrophes. If you are a reader, you should have read many events recently happened around the world. Earthquakes, floods, landslides etc. When you read news, was your heart troubled? Did you just see the death poll a number or see the sorrow behind? Did you read for reading or read with sympathy? When you saw images, was your head strong enough to sense nothing? When you watched videos about the residents' comments on the event, were you just like watching other clips? These events are tools to help you contempt whether you attach yourself to this world. Here my saying attach means you are in the world. Of course the answer is not in or out. It's like a spectrum. You will be surprised by how your attention gets allocated. You may discover yourself more while thinking through this. Another reason for this question is to see your attitude to the world. I have no psychology background. I just like to think some questions and see how others perceive them. For this "are you in the world or off the world", I have seen mesmerizing responses. Some people are very outside-unconscious. I guess that they might be indifferent to whatever irrelevant to their little world. They only give heart in for events related to them. I would dare to conclude spiritual people, material-driven people, goal-lacking crowds or self-identified-elites (not really elites) tend to be outside-unconscious. Results are similar but with distinctive paths. Perhaps many in the bay area are successful elites. I saw their snobbish attitude to the worldly events. Third is about the discussion about 2012. Maybe it was due to the people I hanged out with or the timing, I got myself interested in 2012 prediction from Mayan Long Count. I went to dig Wikipedia. The reading is a bit heavy. I looked at the mirror and asked the person in the mirror "what would you do if the prediction's true?" Of course the person in the mirror had no answer. With time she will. I am still in the process of self answer digging. It's amazing to know that the more I dig, the more surprising discovery I obtain. How about your answer for this big question?

Lynchpin

This word was a stranger to me until 30 sec ago. Came across a post and somehow this word waved itself to me, seemed it wanted me to check its meaning. (imagine the picture) I by all means granted its wish. I like this word. There are some variations for lynchpin according to my favorite online dict. Little learning, little joy.

Internet

Internet becomes necessity. I feel annoyed when the internet is not working for the entire night. I believe many others feel the same way. For some reasons the DSL signal at the house is not stable. It goes on and off. Trouble shooting many times, all in vain. The carrier sent someone to examine the issue. I guess he arrived at a wonderful time, ok, I am a bit sarcastic, the DSL was working perfectly well at that time. He looked at me and seemed to ask me why I opened a ticket for a perfect service. I was so speechless. I told him the DSL was unstable. The situation made my comment sound weak. Not convincing. After he left the DSL signal got interrupted at a sudden. Ouch. I called the carrier and this time I was unable to get a hold of anyone. I kept trying. My evening was just wasted in the calling and waiting. Quite a night. You can see the scene. The night made a clear message. I totally noticed it.
