Yosemite 2005

Always a lot to say about Yosemite.

Yosemite for me is Yose-Mite. Yose and Mite were from two prestigious tribes. Yose was from the Sun tribe. Mite was from the Moon tribe.

There was a tradition that no marriage existed between the Sun and the Moon tribes. They said, this kind would irritate their God and Goddess.

But, this tradition did not stop Yose and Mite. They saw each other. They appreciated each other. They cared each other. They listened to each other. They had fun together. They shared with each other. They backed up for each other. They explored the world together. They fell in love.

Their love enraged the elders. They decided to punish this couple. Yose and Mite did not want to leave each other. So, they ran away. They ran with nothing tangible. They just had love and courage.

They ran for 6 days without any long rests. They ate berries. They drank water from the creeks. They were careful not to be traced. They marked their route with a mark only noticed by them. They were far from home.

They arrived in Yosemite. They hiked up. They were amazed by the scenery. Their worries and pains were washed out by the scenery. They hiked and reached a high land. They took a nap. During the nap, BANG, the land was shaking ferociously. They were awaken by that. Suddenly, the land split. The land just split between them. The part with Mite on it was sinking dramatically.

Yose was so helpless. He saw Mite became smaller and smaller. Mite was frightened. When the land reached the ground, the big shake made Mite passed out. Yose stayed on the top for a hour. Thinking and thinking. Yose wanted to find out where Mite was. He calmed himself down. He looked at his God. He wanted to get a hint. His God smiled at him. So, Yose knew Mite was alive. What a good news.

Mite woke up. Everything looked dark. Why? Because she was covered by broken trees. She stood up. She felt her body was filled with pains. But she was not afraid. She needed to save herself. She walked and climbed. She found a road out. She saw the Moon light. Oh, she saw her Goddess.

Mite knew Yose must be worrying about her. Mite did not know how to get back to where they were. Mite prayed. The Moon understood her. The Moon started to sing a song for Mite. The Moon wanted to cheer Mite up. The Moon summoned some animals for Mite so Mite would not feel lonely. The Moon was thoughtful.

Once Mite was calm, Mite knew she needed to take off. Her animal friends helped her collect fruit, nuts, and herbs. Birds sang songs. Squirrels sang too. Rabbits joined the chorus. Deers danced. Horses carried Mite and everyone took off. Moon guided them. In the meantime, Yose was continuously walking. Yose did not have a good night view capability. But he was determined. He stopped after he knew he needed to preserve some energy for tomorrow.

With the help from the Sun and the Moon, with the hope given by the animal friends, and with their determination and courage, Yose and Mite met each other.

What a relief.

The land that Yose and Mite were there when the shake occurred was called Half Dome nowadays.
