LinkedIn is a good idea. You go there, create an account, put your current status, then link to others. I don't know other places. But in the bay area, LinkedIn is commonly used among professionals. Also, if you are thinking to change your job or find an internship, LinkedIn can be a good platform. You see jobs in your network and see who the recruiter is. You can ask someone (your friend, or your friend's friend) to refer you. It is more efficient than posting your curriculum vitae on company websites and unsure if any one will be looking at it.
